As I type this I’m sitting outside watching P bike ride in a sunny 80 degrees with a slight breeze. If this doesn’t scream “Spring is coming!” I don’t know what does. I do apologize to my friends who are still braving snow days and praying for some sunshine. I am praying right alongside you, sister! As with potty training, it won’t last forever.
Speaking of Spring, I’m excited to bring you a different kind of blog post today! When I started the Made Enough Blog it took me a minute to figure out the direction I wanted it to go. I knew for sure I wanted to provide consistent and truth filled encouragement with a real vulnerability that leads you closer to Jesus and in community with other like minded women. I also wanted to be able to talk about interests, fashion, home, parenting, marriage—all the things! I didn’t want to camp out in just one or the other, so I decided to do both—a faith lifestyle blog if you will. In reality, if we’re really living our lives in a daily-connected-to-Jesus kind of way, our lives are not compartmentalized at all. Jesus flows through us in every part of our lives—or at least that’s what I’m praying for all of us.
So, without further ado, I present to you my top 10 favorite spring trends! These trends are all pieces I’m actually incorporating or have already incorporated into my wardrobe. They’re trendy, but practical and most importantly mom-friendly. Many of you probably already have at least a couple of them in your closet. Below each photo, I’ll link some cute options in a variety of budgets (but mainly looking out for my budget minded girls…because #reallife). I often find these trends at places like TJMaxx and Marshalls for super great deals, but obviously those places could not be linked as they are constantly changing.
1. The wide leg crop pant.
Culottes, gauchos, palazzos, wide leg crop—call them what you will. After being crammed in skinny jeans for the last 7+ years, I am a fan of the flowy leg. These pants are so versatile. You can dress them down with a graphic tee and tennis shoes/sandals or dress them up with a tucked in blouse and heels or clogs.
2. The hair scarf.
These add such spunk to any outfit, and there are SO many ways to wear them. My favorites so far are: the one shown below, tied around my bun, or around my neck (with the right outfit). I have about ten different ones now and seriously have to stop myself from buying them everywhere.
3. The overall jumpsuit.
I’ll admit, it took me awhile to be ok with overalls coming back in. I love them now and think they can be flattering on so many body types! Plus, the variations that have come out this year are just so fun.
4. The Tortoise Shell Earrings.
I have always been a fan of tortoise shell sunnies, so earrings just seem like the next natural thing. I love that they act like a neutral and can be worn with so many colors. Hoops and I go way back, so it’s no wonder I chose those for the photo, but you should check out the links below the photo for more design options!
5. The High Rise Midi Short.
And all the mamas said amen! I was so over all the shorts that leave your buns exposed at the slightest bend. Those are not realistic, especially if you’re a mama and really especially if you’re a long legged mama like me. I don’t remember the last time I bought a pair of shorts I loved. But alas, some CUTE options! These Levi 501’s are prob my fav that I’ve seen so far and are definitely on my purchase list!
*Pro tip: Read the description and look for a 3 inch+ inseam.
High Rise Midi Short Shop Links: (Each link is specific to one pair of shorts) Roolee Shorts: $38 // Old Navy Shorts: $35 // Vici Dolls Shorts: $48 (good luck picking just one pair of shorts on their site! Also, they frequently offer discount codes!)
6. The Clog.
Ok, I seriously ADORE these. I saw a friend of mine wearing them and then every time I went to get dressed after that I’d think about how cute that outfit would be with CLOGS! I own a pair from Lotta From Stockholm (linked below) called the Highwood Brown Oiled Nubuck. I love how versatile they are. You could literally wear them with anything—ok maybe not sweat pants, but whatever floats your boat.
7. The Flat Brim Hat.
I don’t care if you’re a hat person, these look cute on everyone. I have a black one and every time I put it on, I feel like it instantly ups my cool factor. Hey, we moms gotta take all the cool we can get, am I right? I extra love that these hats can easily transition from one season to the next. I’m all about pieces I can wear throughout the year.
8. The Paper Bag Waist.
This waist profile is SO flattering for all kinds of body types! That tie hits in just the right spot to disguise the infamous “mom pouch”. Hey, I’m all about loving our bodies and what they are capable of with child birth (We’re pretty stinkin’ amazing!), but I’m also about choosing clothes that make us feel comfortable and confident. No one likes having to tug on their outfit all day. The paper bag waist is now on shorts, skirts, pants, etc. So many options!
9. The Vintage Inspired Midi Dress.
Sometimes I think I could have totally been born into another era like the 40’s—at least for style purposes anyway. I’m loving the vintage inspired romantic dresses that are everywhere right now. Solid or printed, they are a Spring/Summer no brainer.
I hope you enjoyed this different type of post from me. There will definitely be a mixture of more serious and thoughtful posts with some fun sprinkled in going forward. I’d love to hear your favorite trend, so comment below!
